Guest Blog: The Blonde Asian

Hey everyone!  I’m Jess, a Chicago stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) of three and the life behind the blog, The Blonde Asian.  I met Kim and Kyle during our days as kid stylists and over the years have followed along on their journeys through motherhood.  Watching them create and grow a business, all the while taking care of their families, has been incredibly inspiring and I was so excited they asked me to create a post for you all!  But before I dive into all things athleisure, let me tell you a quick bit about myself.

I began blogging back in 2011 after I started working in the corporate finance world.  I desperately needed a creative outlet and stumbled upon the idea of blogging (back then it was still kind of up and coming).  My first blog was all about baking and sharing the many recipes I tested out weekly.  But over the years, I grew and matured.  My interests evolved.  I got married and started a family.  So fast forward almost a decade and two blogs later, I’m finally settling into my lifestyle space, The Blonde Asian, where I share all things that make up my #momlife and shoppable links via LIKEtoKNOW.it!

When State of Play (SoP) approached me with a post opportunity, I knew right away that I wanted to somehow share two of my passions: fashion and fitness.  And I couldn’t think of anything more perfect than the ever so popular athleisure style.  I’ll start with saying that there’s never been a better time to be a busy Mama than when wearing sweatpants, boxy tees, and sneakers are considered stylish.  Amirite, or amirite?!

Pre-quarantine, my weekdays consisted of school drop-off/pick-up, heading to the gym, and running any number of errands.  And what I quickly learned is that I needed attire to get me through all of the above.  Because although I am a mom, I still wanted to keep alive some of what makes me, me.  Which meant finding some stylish workout gear and athleisure pieces I could wear to and from the gym as well as chasing my littles along the Chicago streets.

Over the last few years, I’ve created a collection of go-to workout and street style pieces.  So I thought it would be fun to create a few inspirational collages to show how fun, easy, and versatile this style can be.  And I, of course, had to use a SoP piece to show how quickly their incredible tops can become part of your every day wardrobe.  Just like they did in mine!

I hope you find some inspiration from these collages and snag a special athleisure piece or two.  Because remember, we must first take care of ourselves before we can take care of others.  Treat yourself, Mama.  Fill that cup.  You earned it.

Happy shopping!
